Online-unit check: October 3, 2026. Horse racing betting in Singapore changed fundamentally when the final domestic race meeting at Kranji took place on October 5, 2024. Singapore no longer has an active domestic thoroughbred racecourse, but Singapore Pools currently offers betting on selected overseas thoroughbred races.

Can you still bet on horse racing in Singapore?

Yes: eligible Singapore Pools Account holders can use its website or mobile app for the overseas races it offers. The closure of domestic racing at Kranji does not mean all horse-racing betting ended. Account eligibility, the current race menu and the product rules still control access.

The online instructions list S$5 Win/Place units and S$2 exotic units. Combination coverage can multiply that unit into a larger total.

Current status of horse racing in Singapore

The Singapore Turf Club was founded in 1842, and the first race at Farrer Park was held in 1843. Racing later moved to Bukit Timah and then to Kranji. The domestic era ended with the final Kranji meeting on October 5, 2024.

Singapore Pools continues to list selected overseas thoroughbred racing from jurisdictions including Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and others. The available countries, races, and schedules can change, so bettors should consult the current Singapore Pools schedule.

How to bet on horse racing through Singapore Pools

Eligible Singapore Pools Account holders can place horse-racing bets online, subject to the account rules and responsible-play controls. Horse-racing services are also available through designated Singapore Pools outlets and venues during applicable racing hours. Bets generally close at race start; the current interface and official rules control if a displayed cutoff differs.

Current Singapore horse-racing bet types

  • Win: select the horse that finishes first.
  • Place: select a horse that finishes within the published qualifying positions. Those conditions can vary by race and field.
  • Forecast: select the first two finishers in exact order.
  • Place Forecast: select any two horses that finish in the first three, in any order. Singapore Pools states that Place Forecast is available for races with seven or more runners; check the current race menu because field conditions can affect availability.
  • Tierce: select the first three finishers in exact order.
  • Trio: select the first three finishers in any order.
  • Quartet: select the first four finishers in exact order.

The current Singapore Pools online instructions list a S$5 unit for Win and Place and a S$2 unit for Forecast, Place Forecast, Tierce, Trio, and Quartet. Combination tickets can cost more than one unit because each covered combination is charged. Check the bet slip total before confirming.

Forecast, Tierce or Trio: Why the Same Three Horses Cost Different Amounts

The difference is the finishing order covered by the bet. Using three distinct horses, labeled A, B and C, does not create the same ticket in every pool. These examples use one S$2 online unit per covered combination, as listed in Singapore Pools’ online instructions.

The Forecast ticket covers two finishing positions; the Tierce and Trio tickets cover three. Their different winning conditions mean cost alone cannot establish which ticket is better. These are combination counts, not a promise that a particular box button or race menu is available.

Read the complete bet slip: verify race, pool, selections, number of combinations, unit amount and total stake. Adding the selections to a slip is a preparation step; check the confirmed activity record after placing it. For settlement, read the official dividend basis and calculate profit after the full ticket cost, including losing combinations. Commingled overseas pools

Some overseas wagers may be commingled with a host racing jurisdiction’s pool. In a commingled pool, stakes from participating locations feed into the host pool, and dividends are determined under the applicable host and Singapore Pools rules. Currency conversion, deductions, and payout treatment should be checked in the official rules for the selected race.

Watching and following overseas races

Singapore Pools publishes current telecast information and provides selected live-streaming options to eligible account holders. Channel assignments, schedules, subscription terms, and available races can change. Use the official schedule rather than an archived Kranji calendar.

Historical context: Farrer Park, Bukit Timah, and Kranji

Singapore’s racing history spans the Farrer Park, Bukit Timah, and Kranji eras. Kranji hosted the final period of domestic racing and prominent historical races such as the Singapore Derby and Singapore Gold Cup. Statements about Kranji’s race days, local purses, trainers, facilities, or attendance now describe a closed domestic program and should be read as historical context, not as current betting availability.
