This update focuses on that racing transition while preserving the page’s historical Louisiana context. Product access, minimum age and account eligibility vary by state and can change. Confirm the current list and terms directly with DraftKings before registering or depositing.

DraftKings: From Daily Fantasy to Sportsbook and Racing

DraftKings is a publicly traded company that was created in 2012 by a group of friends in Boston, Massachusetts. The friends wanted to capitalize on the fantasy sports craze by offering daily contests for real money. The idea was well-received, but some states still maintained a prohibition against DraftKings platform.

As the company sought to move into more states, it also made plans to launch a complete sportsbook. The principals of the company were able to realize that many states were moving toward legalized sports betting. By the time this started to happen, DraftKings was ready with systems in place. DraftKings also offers live or in-play betting. This type of betting will allow you to place wagers after an event is in progress. You can bet on which team will win and on props such as how many points a certain player will score.

The Flash Bet is something which seems unique to DraftKings. This is a type of bet that appears for a short time. It usually offers enhanced odds which make the bet more attractive to the player. You can schedule alerts from the DraftKings app to tell you when a Flash Bet is being offered.

DK Horse and the DraftKings Racing Transition

DraftKings entered advance-deposit horse wagering through DK Horse, a standalone product associated with Churchill Downs’ racing technology. In 2026 the company began moving eligible states to DraftKings Racing, an embedded product available through the DraftKings platform and a racing website.

The migration is not simultaneous everywhere. Some eligible customers may still see DK Horse while others see DraftKings Racing. Account balances and promotions may be treated differently during migration, so follow the instructions shown for the state and account rather than assuming that funds or bonus bets transfer automatically.

DraftKings’ official support pages state that racing eligibility can be based on state of residence, with geolocation restrictions also applying. Never use a VPN, false address or another person’s account to bypass those controls.

Using DraftKings Racing on Mobile or Web

Where DraftKings Racing is available, eligible customers may reach racing through the broader DraftKings app or the dedicated racing website. In states still being migrated, the standalone DK Horse app may remain the relevant route. The interface and product shown to one customer therefore may not match another customer’s experience.

Before wagering, verify the legal entity, residency requirement, minimum age and current racing availability. Location checks are a compliance control, not an inconvenience to evade. Keep the app updated and enable account-security protections offered by the platform.

Deposits, Withdrawals and Racing Balances

Available payment methods, minimums, limits, processing times and fees depend on the customer’s location, product and verified account. The figures in the original 2022 review should not be treated as current promises. Check the cashier and terms before depositing.

During a DK Horse-to-DraftKings Racing migration, do not assume that every balance moves in the same way. DraftKings publishes migration instructions for eligible accounts. Save transaction records, complete identity verification with accurate information and contact official support if the displayed balance is unexpected.

Withdrawals can require review and may return through an eligible funding route. A fast deposit does not guarantee an equally fast withdrawal, and a payment method’s acceptance does not establish that the racing product is legal or available in the customer’s state.

Promotions and Bonus Terms

The 2022 “risk-free” offer described in the original article is no longer presented as a current promotion. Offers change by state, product, customer and date. A bonus bet is usually restricted wagering credit rather than cash and may not return the stake with winnings.

Read the qualifying wager, minimum odds, expiry, eligible market, maximum award and withdrawal terms before opting in. DraftKings’ racing-migration guidance also states that sportsbook bonus bets may not be usable on DraftKings Racing. Never increase a deposit merely to chase a headline maximum.

Promotion checklist

  • Confirm the exact product and state covered.
  • Record the opt-in and qualification deadline.
  • Check whether the stake is returned.
  • Note excluded racing pools or bet types.
  • Compare the offer with the amount you planned to wager anyway.

Horse Racing at DraftKings in 2026

DraftKings Racing is the company’s current direction for pari-mutuel horse wagering. In eligible locations it offers live and upcoming races within the DraftKings ecosystem. It should still be evaluated as a racing product: compare track coverage, bet types, video, scratches, pool information, responsible-gambling tools, customer support and withdrawal rules.

Availability is the first test. DraftKings’ own support information distinguishes residence from current location and lists states separately for DK Horse and DraftKings Racing during migration. Use those dated official lists rather than an undated third-party table.

Sportsbook Odds and Racing Pools Are Different

A standard sportsbook posts fixed odds for markets it offers. Horse-racing wagers through an advance-deposit wagering product are commonly pari-mutuel: customers wager into pools, deductions are taken and the final payoff depends on the money in the pool. The odds visible when a ticket is placed can change before betting closes.

That distinction affects comparisons. A sportsbook promotion may not apply to racing, and a sports balance may not always behave like a legacy DK Horse balance during migration. Check the product label, pool, track and bet type on the confirmation screen. Review scratches and probable payouts before post time.

Practical Racing-Product Checklist

  • Confirm that DraftKings Racing or DK Horse is available for your residence and location.
  • Check which tracks, international signals and bet types are offered.
  • Review minimum stakes, takeout implications and any account or transaction fees.
  • Test video quality and delay before relying on it near post time.
  • Find the rules for scratches, coupled entries, dead heats, cancellations and abandoned races.
  • Set deposit, time and loss limits before the first wager.

For handicapping, the familiar DraftKings brand does not replace past performances, track conditions, scratches or price discipline. A polished interface can make a product easier to use; it cannot make a poor wager profitable.

The transition also makes careful verification essential: an old Louisiana promotion, payment limit or product description is not a current nationwide promise.
